Attorney and safe hiring expert Lester S. Rosen, Founder and CEO of San Francisco, CA-area background check firm Employment Screening Resources® (ESR), will focus on the credentials of IT workers internationally in a private webinar for Contingent Workforce Management (CWP) titled ‘The Reality of International Background Checks – Can You Handle the Truth’ on Tuesday, March 25, 2014.
“With the mobility of workers across international borders it is no longer adequate to conduct background checks just in the United States,” says Rosen, author of ‘The Safe Hiring Manual.’ “With business going global, U.S. firms are having to staff up offices internationally as well. International background checks help employers conduct due diligence on new hires, which is a mission critical task.”
Areas covered by Rosen in the CWP webinar will include why international background checks are an important tool for employers and the legal, practical, and cultural challenges employers face when obtaining information outside of the United States. He will also explain the legal and privacy aspects of checking international education and employment credentials, as well as international criminal records.
CWP is a national membership association for high-level professionals working in Human Resources, Procurement and Risk/compliance fields related to the Contingent Workforce. CWP offers networking opportunities for regularly sharing best practices and emerging trends with industry leaders in the field. Membership and all events are free. As reported earlier on the ESR News blog, India has “the highest number of cases of employment-related inconsistencies” on the globe helped by the blatant proliferation of advertisements where fake degrees from any college in the world can be bought for a few hundred dollars. The blog is available at http://www.esrcheck.com/wordpress/2014/03/18/fake-degrees-growing-problem-in-india/.
To help teach global due diligence, Rosen co-authored ‘International Employment Background Checks’ with Lisbeth Claus, Ph.D., Professor of Global HR at Willamette University, and Editor-in-Chief of the Global HR Practitioner Handbook Volumes 1 and 2.
